TWCA’s Fall Conference Features Keynote Speakers and State Water Updates

Mbroh Chief Operations Officer James “Brooks” Schultze attended Texas Water Conservation Association’s (TWCA) fall conference last week in San Antonio, TX among thousands of other water resource professionals. The bi-annual conference featured a volunteer kayaking cleanup, the 15th annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament, panels and keynote speakers detailing water conservation efforts.

Notable sessions Brooks attended included a speed networking session where attendees discussed their water career histories, a keynote session on Texas water topics in current and upcoming state legislative action by state representative Cody Harris, and a briefing of California’s perspectives on water conservation and recent state regulatory requirement changes by Chelsea Haines of the Association of California Water Agencies.

The final keynote panel covered the Rio Grande water treaty update, supported by Commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission Maria-Elena Giner, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Commissioner Bobby Janecka and Lower Rio Grande Valley Water District Managers Association’s Sonny Hinojosa. Moderated by Harlingen Irrigation District’s Tom McLemore, the panel provided an overview of the current status of annual flows through the Rio Grande Basin and the process for ensuring treaty requirements.

Brooks also had the opportunity to meet TWCA Executive Director Stacy Allison to talk water and discuss how Mbroh supports water conservation efforts in the company’s scope of work.
