Traffic Signal Management Program/Intelligent Traffic Systems

Client: City of Houston

Location: Houston, Texas

Cost: Varies

Service Category: Electrical Engineering; Transportation

Mbroh provided design of new signalized intersections and modification of existing traffic signals, all designed and constructed in compliance with the City of Houston’s Infrastructure Design Manual, Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TX MUTCD) and Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

This project addressed the needs of thirty-tree (33) locations identified through the ReBuild Houston methodology process to provide improved traffic circulation. Mbroh’s design included requirements for relocating and temporary removal of existing streetlights during construction including conduit/pullbox layout of the streetlights. Mbroh was also responsible for the design of each component of the service hook-up, including the conduit and cable run from the load center to the power source, the conduit riser on the power pole and the actual splice into the power system.

The City of Houston requires the installation of Battery Back Up/Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems on all new or reconstruction traffic signals. The Battery Backup/UPS System were designed to meet standard requirements. The traffic signals were designed and constructed in compliance with City of Houston Infrastructure Design Manual, Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TX MUTCD) and Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
